Lift Application Project

Scope of mechanical and electrical lift application projects and the registration process

Contact

A lift application project is the project containing the manufacturing and installation details, calculations and drawings of a lift whose basic characteristics were defined in the preliminary project. It consists of two parts: mechanical and electrical. On this page you will find what the application project should contain and how lift registration works.

What Is a Lift Application Project?

A lift application project contains the descriptions, drawings, technical specifications, calculations and other supplementary documents that describe in detail how the manufacturing and installation details and the calculations resulting from the design will be carried out for a lift to be installed in a building, whose minimum conditions were defined in the preliminary project.

What Is a Mechanical Lift Application Project?

A mechanical lift application project contains the manufacturing and installation details and calculations resulting from the design of a lift to be installed in a building, whose minimum conditions were defined in the preliminary project. It is also generally referred to as the machinery application project. It is prepared and approved by a mechanical or mechatronics engineer holding an SMM (independent consulting engineer) certificate.

What Is an Electrical Lift Application Project?

An electrical lift application project consists of the descriptions, drawings, technical specifications, calculations and other supplementary documents that describe in detail how a lift to be installed in a building will be built, taking into account the minimum conditions defined in the preliminary project. It is prepared and approved by an electrical and/or electronics engineer holding an SMM certificate.

What Should a Mechanical (Renewal) Application Project Contain?

  1. The cover of the lift application (renewal) project contains information on the engineer who prepared the project, the building owner or their representative and the location of the building; the drive type of the lift, the number of lifts, capacity, class, travel, number of stops, speed, car dimensions, car and counterweight guide rail details, the location of the machine room and motor power, rope details, (where applicable) the cross-sectional area of the hydraulic jack, (where applicable) the jack length, control type and serial number(s), and the lists of materials used in the design.
  2. In the calculations of the lift application (renewal) project, taking into account the capacity and drive type in the lift preliminary project, the calculations required by the relevant product standard for the drive type of the lift are made (rope calculation, guide rail calculation, resistance to overpressure, traction calculation and buckling calculation of the jack, calculation of the static loads on the building according to the design, motor power calculation for the selected motor and other strength calculations).
  3. The drawings of the lift application (renewal) project include the shaft layout plan, horizontal and vertical sections of the lift shaft, the machine room layout plan, horizontal and vertical sections of the machine room, the rope hole plan of the slab above the shaft, detail drawings of the machine bedplate, rope terminations, landing doors, car dimensions, rail–flange connections, machine–motor sheave diameter and wrap angle, rail–bracket connection details and any other detail features.

What Should an Electrical Application Project Contain?

  1. An electrical lift application project includes voltage drop calculations, motor power calculation, cable cross-section calculations, the power supply line of the lift control panel, the lighting plan of the lift machine room and shaft, the lighting intensity calculation for the machine room and shaft, protection and earthing systems, the shaft layout plan, the machine room layout plan and the longitudinal section of the lift shaft.
  2. The machine room and socket circuits, and the lift power panel of the machine/motor group, are supplied by riser lines separate from the building’s main distribution board. The earthing line of the lift power panel is run separately from the building’s equipotential busbar.
  3. The project also covers control circuits and schematic diagrams; the selection calculation and connections of the emergency rescue device, if any; the internal and wireless communication installation; the layout and connections of the emergency stop circuits in the shaft; the connections of floor and door lock circuits and signal cables; the inverter circuit and documentation and the motor connection diagram for variable-speed lifts; the connection of the firefighters lift to the building pressurisation system; the connections of the safety contacts used in the lift; the homing device and its connection to the control system; and, where required, the connection of the earthquake and fire alarm system to the lift system.

The Lift Registration Process

After the installation of the lift is complete, the project form for the renewal project must be filled in completely and submitted to the project department of the municipality together with the architectural project, the preliminary projects and the building permit.

While the registration file is being prepared, a green label is obtained from the Type A inspection body that has an agreement with the municipality where the lift is located.

The green label and the invoice are added to the registration file prepared by CMB Consultancy, which contains the company’s own CE certificate and other documents.

The registration file must be submitted to the municipality by the installer.

After approval by the municipality, the municipality file in the registration file is given to the authorised engineer at the municipality, and the customer file to the building owner or the contractor. The company file must be collected by the lift company.

You can find the list of documents required for registration on our Lift Registration (Licensing) page.
